Customs and Traditions

Like any Islamic festival, Eid-ul-Fitr is also set with certain rules and people follow them stringently. At the beginning of the day of Eid-ul-Fitr one should wake up early in the morning and cleanse himself and wear the best of clothes and perfume. Before the Id prayer one should eat sweet like dates and recite 'Takbir' in a low voice while going for the Id prayer.

It is compulsory for every male Muslim to attend the Id prayer and can be performed any time between the 'Ishraq' and 'Zawal'. Id prayers can be done in an open air and not in mosques. 'Zakat', is the annual pay 2.5% of every Muslims asset as a charity to the poor and needy. It is done before the morning prayers. Everyone exchange gifts and a sumptuous meal is served in each and every household.
